Jeff Tageant, Franklinton High School Baseball Coach, recognized for achieving his 500th victory in 2019.
Varnado High School student, LaDerrick Smith, was awarded the highest honor given to youth by Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) at the national conference in Washington D.C. CADCA is a national program purposing to reduce drug use one community at a time. Smith received the National Outstanding Youth Leader of the Year award. This award recognizes leaders that have gone above the call of duty to work diligently in their coalitions, demonstrate a passion from making an impact on their community and have a lasting effect on the NYLI (National Youth Leadership Initiative.)

Recently released district and school performance scores show growth for the Washington Parish School System. The district is proud to announce it has reclaimed the "B" letter grade status issued by the Louisiana Department of Education and all school letter grades are "B" or "C". All WPSS schools earned "A" or "B" letter grades for student growth performance. See the presentation below for 2019 Performance Scores. FRANKLINTON January 30, 2020 -- Washington Parish School Board has been selected for the 2020 Best of Franklinton Award in the Elementary And Secondary Schools category by the Franklinton Award Program.
Each year, the Franklinton Award Program identifies companies that we believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and our community. These exceptional companies help make the Franklinton area a great place to live, work and play.
Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2020 Franklinton Award Program focuses on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the Franklinton Award Program and data provided by third parties.

The Franklinton Award Program is an annual awards program honoring the achievements and accomplishments of local businesses throughout the Franklinton area. Washington Parish College & Career Fair -
This joint effort among WPSS high schools brings WPSS juniors and seniors from all high schools in contact with colleges, industry, and business. Students had the opportunity to gather information about many post-secondary opportunities available in and around our area. This year's event was held at Pine High School on September 11th.
